The B6000 series offers the biggest, heaviest, universal grinder in the K.O. LEE line with the largest capacity and most versatility. The B6000 series is designed for shops that have sizeable cutting tools and considerable work for cylindrical tool or production grinding.
Two models are available in this series, the B6060 and B6062. The main differences between models are found in the type of grinding head standard with each model. The B6060 features a high-speed grinding head and the B6062 has a heavy-duty grinding head.
Both models can be tooled to fill a variety of requirements, eliminating the need for costly, single-purpose grinders. Either model in the B6000 series will match any large universal machine of similar capacity in finish, accuracy and ease of operation.
The capacity of the B6000 series is the largest in K.O. LEE's tool grinder line. The design parameters of this series make it capable of performing virtually all tool room and production grinding tasks:
• Highest headstock and tailstock centerline height of 6.130" with a standard swing of 12 1/4"
• Large 6" column with a vertical range of 10 1/2" when raised by a handwheel from the lowest position on either side of the machine. Heavy column housing in the base provides full support throughout the entire elevation range
• Locking screw for simple locking of wheelhead horizontal swivel. Column elevation is fixed by a column lock screw
• Multi-speed grinding head
• Tilting grinding head, 22° either side of vertical provides the ability to produce clearance angles with the grinding wheel quickly, as soon as cutters have been placed on center
• Maximum crossfeed range of 8"
• Largest capacity standard equipment for use with large cutters and other work
• Open-style spoke handwheels for easier, more accurate movement of table, saddle and column in short increments
• Heavy-duty workholding fixtures are available. Many of our standard fixtures for other series and models can easily be adapted to the B6000 series
B6000 Features
Universal grinders feature belt-driven cartridge spindles with ball-bearings which are grease sealed for long life. Replacement time is minimized when changing or servicing.
Tool, cutter and basic tool grinders have a totally enclosed, ball-bearing motorized grinding wheel spindle, specially balanced. Convenient and swivels 360°.
Flexible machine light to spotlight the work
Interchangeable centers are quickly exchanged for carbide centers or replaced.
Conveniently located handwheels for crossfeed, table traverse, and vertical movement provide maximum operator convenience. Table travel handwheels have extension handles.
Coolant trough is built into sub-table, returning coolant to tank on machines using flood coolant.
Reversing switch conveniently located near motor (except on B6000 series and machines with special controls).
Rear handwheels are available for operators who prefer back-operated tool grinders. Rear cross-feed and table controls are standard on the B6000 and B2000 series ball-track models and available as options on the standard B2000 and BA900 series. All ball-track models feature rear handwheels as standard.
Swivel table taper adjustment screws provide positive fixed settings with center or table end lock screws.
Adjustable table stops to prevent overstocking on cutter blades and for shoulder grinding. Ball-track models have spring-loaded stops with a built-in micrometer.
Floating bronze feed nut with easy back-lash adjustment provides sensitive feel and repeatability.
Super smooth poly-V belt driven spindles on universal models for ample pulling power with minimum belt tension. Motors, spindles and belts wear longer.
OSHA wheel and belt guards are standard.
Ball tack models with anti-friction ways feature steel balls running in tool steel V and flat ways on both table and saddle ways. Balls rolling through oil are self-cleaning. Protective extensions prevent dust from entering way areas.
Long life and smooth operation provided by shafts and crossfeed screws which are ball-bearing mounted at points of radial thrust. Main feed screws are hardened and ground to Acme thread standards.
Two-speed table transmissions for fast or slow table traverse.
Double V saddle crossways for maximum tracking stability. Fully protected by integral or cast shrouds, and long enough so corresponding base ways are not uncovered. Saddle lock provides fixed saddle position when required (except on B300 and B250 series).
Built-in automatic spool roller lubrication reservoirs in table and baseways hold way lube or hydraulic oil to insure constant lubrication whenever the table or saddle is moved.
Traditional V and flat longitudinal ways for parallel accuracy, ground and cross-scraped for even lubrication and distribution.
Spring-loaded roller hold down for the table on ball track models, with uniform spring tension for easy table control.
Column center-screw construction insures accurate column tracking and minimum key-way guide pressure. Screw rests on ball or roller bearings.
Telescoping neoprene boot protects column.
One-piece, cast iron base assures rigidity for a lifetime...absorbs grinding vibration better than fabricated bases.
Storage compartment in base for fixtures and tools.
Machine bases have four-pad floor contact with leveling bolts for maximum stability. The B300 and B250 series use a three-point, integral system. |
