Vertical Spindle Surface Grinder
The K.O. Lee SvH818-1 Vertical Spindle Surface Grinder was the answer to small job requirements. These grinders were designed to grind ferrite, ceramic plates and orientation flats on various semiconductor crystals.
As with each of K.O. Lee's other grinders, all major members of the SVH818-1 were constructed out of cast-iron for stability and accuracy. Table, saddle, and baseways were precision ground to a high accuracy. The box column and spindle slide were also cast iron, insuring a precision fit and no-hangup gravity downfeed. The SVH818-1 came with 1-1/2 HP 3600 RPM direct drive air bearing spindle. Rack and pinion table drive was standard for hand operation. Spring-loaded spool rollers provided lubrication to the table from saddle ways. An adjustable slow speed valve allowed the operator to control the table speed down to .030 IPM. The optional control added precision electronic downfeed control of the spindle. The micro-processor based control provided rough and finished feed, spark-out and automatic return to home upon reaching the preset depth.
