K.O. Lee's VIGOR was a Precision Creep Feed Grinding Center designed for highly efficient full-depth grinding at an economical price.
The VIGOR was equipped with a NUM 1040 CNC color graphics control which provides simultaneous movement of the machine's three (3) axes. The table, crossfeed, and vertical axis were all driven by AC Digital Servo motors via precision ballscrews with standard linear glass scale feedback.
The VIGOR offered a full grinding capacity of 10" (250mm) by 24" (600mm) and was equipped with a standard 10-HP (7.5 kw) spindle motor capable of running up to 22,000 surface feet per minute (110 M/s). A standard frequency convertor maintained constant peripheral surface speed for the machine's 12" (300mm) diameter grinding wheel.
Machine stiffness was increased by the use of pre-loaded linear guideways on the table and crossfeed axis. All linear way bearings, ballscrews, and the spindle were lubricated by a central air/oil lubrication system that also provided positive pressure protection to these critical areas.
The low cost and quick setup of K.O. Lee's VIGOR made this machine not only suitable for high volume production environments, but also ideal for low volume job shop applications.
